You know you're a Scrapbooker when...

....while watching New Moon in the scene where Bella adds her dreamy picture of Edward to her scrapbook, you're not thinking "Ah, that's sweet" instead your thinking "SCOTCH TAPE, BELLA! You're using SCOTCH TAPE on a photo?!"

This may also result from hours of cutting sticky messy tape off the edges of photos at the archives. I think I'm going to vow not to use the vile stuff on anything but wrapping paper for the rest of my natural life.

We were actually able to pay off our car today. Always nice to have one less bill.

Mild Celebrations for a Minor Holiday

Let's see in honor of St. Patrick's Day (though I'm not Catholic and I'm about .5 percent Irish) I did the following:

-Gave Tracy a St. Patrick's Day card complete with a shamrock and Celtic knots

-Wore a little green ribbon pinned to my jacket

-Listened to The Corrs (ok, so I do this a lot, but I figure listening to an album called Live from Dublin complete with Irish folk instuments should count for something)

-Ate imported Irish Cheddar Cheese

-Used green lettering on this blog post

Not too exciting, but hey at least it was something :)

Yawn Inducing Trailer

So I have to admit I'm excited to see Twilight:Eclipse. I thought they did a good job on the last movie, and it should be fun. Which was why I was surprised at how mind-numbingly boring the recently released Teaser Trailer was. Maybe they counted on their random shot of Taylor Lautner without his shirt to generate the needed excitement, but as a happily married woman nearly old enough to be his mother, that didn't quite cut it. Ditto for the vaguely foreboding music.

I mean, I know the wolf boys are probably still in CGI-ville, but what about a shot of the newborn vamp army or Bella punching Jake?? Come on people, give us something to work with here!

When I first watched the New Moon trailer I was dizzy with excitement, and this one just made me bored. I'm worried that this is not a good sign.

Girl Power

Shannon Hale has a great blog entry about the lack of female characters in animated movies.

And I would just add that even in the princess movies the girls often don't have mothers, which has always struck me as wierd.

On a personal note, in doing the Princess Bride blog I've noticed that for a "Princess" movie there sure are a lot of boys in it, and they seem to have all the best lines. It doesn't make me like the movie any less, but I do think it's kind of a shame.

The Oscars

My interest in the Oscars has waned over the past few years, I think partly because there's no way on earth I'm ever going to have a year as fun as 2004 when my favorite movie (Return of the King) won 11 awards. However, when I read the winners this morning it made me smile that two movies I actually really liked, The Blind Side (Best Actress) and Up (Best Animated Film), won awards.

Oh, and though I hate to be negative, I'm glad to see the Avatar madness take a hit. What is it with overrated James Cameron movies? I wasn't a big Titanic fan either.

Cannoli

Yesterday we went to Kneaders (a bakery restaurant) for dinner and Tracy discovered pistachio cannoli. He said he had to resist the urge to go back today and buy a dozen.
